- 1Pick 4 digits from 0 to 9 (3 for a Three play, 2 for a Pair), or ask for a Quick Pick.
- 2Choose Straight, Box, Straight/Box, Combo, Front/Back Three or Front/Middle/Back Pair.
- 3Choose 50¢ or $1 a play. Straight/Box is $1, and Combo $2 to $24.
- 4Add Wild Ball, which doubles the cost, and EZ Match for $1 more, if you like.
- 5Choose Midday, Evening or both, for 1 to 7 or 14 drawings in a row.

- Straight
- Match all 4 digits in the exact order drawn.
- Box
- Match all 4 digits in any order. How many orders your number has sets the prize: 3999 is 4-way, 2233 is 6-way, 3822 is 12-way and 1234 is 24-way. A number like 1111 can only be played Straight.
- Straight/Box
- A 50¢ Straight and a 50¢ Box on the same number, for $1. The exact order wins both prizes, and any other order wins the Box prize.
- Combo
- A Straight on every order of your digits, at 50¢ or $1 each: from 4 plays ($2 or $4) for a 4-way number to 24 ($12 or $24) for a 24-way. Whichever order is drawn wins one Straight prize.
- Front Three
- Pick 3 digits. Win if they match the first 3 digits drawn, in exact order.
- Back Three
- Pick 3 digits. Win if they match the last 3 digits drawn, in exact order.
- Front Pair
- Pick 2 digits. Win if they match the first 2 digits drawn, in exact order.
- Middle Pair
- Missouri calls it Middle Pair. Pick 2 digits. Win if they match the middle 2 digits drawn, in exact order.
- Back Pair
- Pick 2 digits. Win if they match the last 2 digits drawn, in exact order.
- Prizes
- Every Pick 4 prize is a set amount, and a 50¢ play wins half what a $1 play does. Each play wins only its highest prize, plus any Wild Ball prizes.
- Liability limit
- Pick 4 pays set prizes, so the Lottery limits what it can owe on any one number. Once enough tickets with a number are sold, it sells out and can't be bought for that drawing.
- Wild Ball
- One Wild Ball digit from 0 to 9 is drawn right after each Pick 4 Midday and Evening drawing, and it can be the same as a digit already drawn. It replaces each of the 4 winning digits in turn to make new winning numbers, while your numbers stay the same. You win a Wild Ball prize for each new number your play matches, on top of any base prize, so one play can win several. Wild Ball doubles the cost of the play.
- EZ Match
- Four EZ Match numbers, each with a prize, print on your ticket when you buy it. If any of them matches one of your Pick 4 digits, in any position, you win that prize right away, on top of anything you win in the drawing. A digit you played more than once wins an EZ Match prize once. Each play with EZ Match prints on its own ticket, and you can cash a winning EZ Match play before the drawing.
