- How it works
- Pick 6 numbers from 1 to 59, sold two plays for $1. Match 3 to 6 of the 6 numbers drawn to win. A seventh number, the Bonus Number or Bonus Ball, is then drawn from the balls left, and it counts only for second prize: 5 of the 6 numbers plus the Bonus Ball.
- Jackpot
- The jackpot rolls over until a play matches all 6 numbers, and winning plays share it equally. The advertised jackpot is an annuity estimate. A winner chooses within 60 days of claiming between yearly payments over 25 years and a lump sum equal to the cash needed to buy them. When more than one play wins and the jackpot's annuity value is under $1 million, the winners are paid in lump sums.
- Prizes
- Up to 40% of each drawing's sales goes to prizes: 75% of that to the jackpot, 7.25% to second prize, 5.5% to third, 6.25% to fourth and 6% to fifth. Each prize is shared equally by its winners and rounded down to the whole dollar, so the amounts change every drawing, and the fifth prize is at least $1. A second prize nobody wins is added to the next drawing's. The Bonus Ball counts only for second prize, so 4 or 3 matches win the same with it or without it.
