- How it works
- Pick 6 different numbers from 1 to 40. Six numbers are drawn, then a seventh, the Bonus Ball, which counts if it's one of your numbers. Win by matching 3 to 6 of the six numbers, or 2 to 5 of them plus the Bonus Ball. Each $2 buys one $2 play, two $1 plays or four 50¢ plays, never mixed, and a play's prizes are set by its amount.
- Prizes
- Every prize is a set cash amount, and each play wins only its highest prize. The top prize is set so that, after federal and state withholding at 2015 IRS rates, which can change, the winner keeps $1 million on a $2 play, $500,000 on a $1 play or $250,000 on a 50¢ play. The Bonus Ball, drawn after the 6 numbers, can raise a lower prize but doesn't count toward the top prize.
- Liability limit
- The lottery pays at most $2,816,902 in top prizes in one drawing. A winning $2 play counts as 4 shares, a $1 play as 2 and a 50¢ play as 1, so up to 8 shares are paid in full. With more, the $2,816,902 is split by shares, rounded down to the dollar.
