- 2Choose Exact Order, Any Order, 50/50 or Combo.
- 3Choose 50¢ or $1 a play. 50/50 is $1, and a Combo is $4 to $24.
- 4Add FIREBALL if you like. It doubles the cost.
- 5Choose the Day drawing, the Night drawing or both, for up to 91 drawings in a row.

- Exact Order
- Virginia calls it Exact Order. Match all 4 digits in the exact order drawn.
- Any Order
- Virginia calls it Any Order. Match all 4 digits in any order. How many orders your number has sets the prize: 1112 is 4-way, 1122 is 6-way, 1123 is 12-way and 1234 is 24-way.
- 50/50
- Virginia's 50/50 splits a $1 play into a 50¢ Exact Order play and a 50¢ Any Order play on the same number. The exact order wins both prizes together, and any other order wins the Any Order prize.
- Combo
- A $1 Exact Order play on every order of your digits: $4 for a 4-way number, $6 for 6-way, $12 for 12-way and $24 for 24-way. Whichever order is drawn wins one Exact Order prize.
- Fireball
- A FIREBALL digit from 0 to 9 is drawn after each Day and Night drawing. It can replace any one of the 4 winning digits to make 4 more combinations, and if your play matches one, you win a FIREBALL prize, on top of any Pick 4 prize. FIREBALL doubles the cost of your play and can't be played on its own.
- Prizes
- Every Pick 4 prize is a fixed amount, and a 50¢ play wins half what a $1 play does.
- Liability limit
- Pick 4 pays fixed prizes, so the lottery can stop selling a number once what it could owe on that number passes a limit it sets.
- Advance Play
- A Multi-Draw ticket is for Day drawings, Night drawings or both. At a store you can also buy a Future Play for any one drawing up to 90 days ahead.
