- Straight
- Match all 4 digits in the exact order drawn.
- Box
- Match all 4 digits in any order. Three of one digit, like 1222, is 4-way; two pairs, like 1122, 6-way; one pair, like 1223, 12-way; and four different digits, like 1234, 24-way. The fewer orders, the bigger the prize.
- Straight/Box
- A Straight and a Box on the same number, each at your bet, so it costs twice the bet: $1 for a 50¢ Straight and a 50¢ Box. The exact order wins both prizes, and any other order wins the Box prize.
- Front Pair
- Pick 2 digits. Win if they match the first 2 digits drawn, in exact order.
- Middle Pair
- Pick 2 digits. Win if they match the second and third digits drawn, in exact order.
- Back Pair
- Pick 2 digits. Win if they match the last 2 digits drawn, in exact order.
- Single Digit
- Pick 1 digit and its position: first, second, third or fourth. Win if the digit drawn in that position matches it.
- Prizes
- Every prize is a set cash amount for each 50¢ of the bet: a $1 bet wins twice the 50¢ prize and a $5 bet ten times it, so a Straight wins $2,500 on 50¢, $5,000 on $1 and $25,000 on $5. Each play wins only its highest prize.
- Liability limit
- Pick 4 pays set prizes, so the Tri-State Lotto Commission limits what it can owe on any one number. Once bets of one type on a number reach the limit, it can stop taking that bet. The limit is $200,000 in each state's system: $600,000 across the three states for store sales, and $600,000 more for online sales.
- Advance Play
- A ticket can play up to 21 days in a row: up to 42 drawings with both Day and Evening, or 21 of either one.
