More Claim Rules
- When you can claim
- Cash Pop, Cash 3, Cash 4 and Georgia FIVE prizes can be claimed right after the drawing. Fantasy 5, Powerball, Mega Millions and Millionaire for Life prizes can be claimed from 5 a.m. the next business day.
- Appointments
- Headquarters, the district offices and the airport kiosks take claims by appointment, booked online, and take walk-ins when there's room. Appointments are seen first.
- Airport claim kiosks
- Lottery kiosks at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport take claims of up to $25,000, Monday to Friday, and usually pay them the same day. Prizes won on plays bought online can't be claimed there.
- Prizes won online
- Prizes up to $600 on plays bought on galottery.com or the Georgia Lottery app are paid into your iHOPE account automatically. For a larger prize you get an email, and you claim it at headquarters or a district office.
- Jackpot payment choice
- Powerball, Mega Millions and Millionaire for Life winners don't choose cash or yearly payments when they buy. They choose within 60 days of filing the claim, and the choice can't be undone.
- Debts owed to the state
- Debts over $100 owed to the state are taken out of prizes: unpaid child support from prizes of $2,500 or more, and Department of Education and Department of Revenue debts, like student loans and state taxes, from prizes of $5,000 or more, counting the prize less the ticket's cost.
- Staying anonymous
- A winner of $250,000 or more can choose on the claim form to keep the win anonymous.
- Group winners
- A prize is claimed in the name of one person or one legal entity, like a corporation, partnership or trust. A group names one member or entity to receive the prize.
- Exchange tickets
- If you cash a winning Multi-Draw ticket before its last drawing, or a Cash Pop or Fantasy 5 Cash Match instant win before its drawing, you get an exchange ticket for the drawings left. Exchange tickets can't be canceled.
- Cash Match prizes
- Fantasy 5 Cash Match prizes can be claimed for 180 days from the first drawing on the ticket.
- Claiming by mail
- Mailed claims take 4 to 6 weeks, and the lottery isn't responsible for tickets lost in the mail. For a prize of $600 or less, fill out the back of the ticket and mail it.
