    More Claim Rules

    Debts owed to the state
Before paying a prize of $600 or more, the lottery checks for debts owed in Colorado, like past-due child support, court-ordered amounts and some state debts, and pays the debt out of the prize first, or the whole prize if the debt is larger.
    Public records
Your first name, last initial, hometown, prize amount and game are public for a prize of $600 or more, and the lottery posts them on coloradolottery.com. A jackpot winner is also asked to give an interview for a press release, and having your photo taken is optional.
    Who can claim
The lottery pays only a person, not a trust, partnership or company. A group picks one person to sign the ticket and claim the prize, and can list everyone who shares it on IRS Form 5754 for taxes. You can set up a trust or company after you've claimed.
    Retailers
Retailers must pay prizes of $150 or less and may pay prizes up to $599, during their business hours.
    Claiming online
For a prize of $600 or more, you can start a claim on the Claiming Prizes page by sending photos of the front and back of the signed ticket. Once the ticket is checked, you get an email to finish the claim. Online claims are for one person only.
    Claiming in person
Claims of more than $600 must reach a claims center by 4:15 p.m. To claim a jackpot, call 800-999-2959 first to say when you're coming.
    Claiming by mail
Mail the signed ticket, with a completed claim form for $600 or more, to Colorado Lottery, PO Box 7, Pueblo, CO 81002. FedEx and UPS deliveries go to 225 N Main St, Pueblo, CO 81003.
    Advance Play tickets
You can collect an Advance Play ticket's prizes after its last drawing, or as you go. If you cash it before then, get a replacement ticket for the drawings left.
