More Claim Rules
- Prizes won online
- Prizes on games bought online with CT Lottery iLottery are credited to your account automatically up to $599. Prizes of $600 to $5,000 are claimed in person at Lottery Headquarters or at the Fanatics Sportsbook claim centers in Bridgeport and Hartford, and prizes over $5,000 only at Headquarters, with two forms of ID.
- Cash or yearly payments
- Powerball and Mega Millions jackpot winners have 60 days after becoming entitled to the prize to choose cash, and are paid yearly if they don't. Millionaire for Life top and second prize winners choose within 60 days after presenting the ticket at Lottery Headquarters, and the choice is final. A Lotto! jackpot share over $100,000 can be taken as cash or 21 equal yearly payments, chosen within 60 days of the ticket's validation; the choice is final, and without one it's paid in cash.
- Your name
- The CT Lottery won't publish a winner's name without written consent. Winner information can still be released under a Connecticut Freedom of Information Act request, unless the winner has a court-issued protective order or an Address Confidentiality Program card.
- Advance Action tickets
- You can claim a prize on an Advance Action ticket before its last drawing. The retailer gives you an Exchange Ticket for the drawings left.
- Winners from other countries
- You don't have to be a U.S. citizen or a Connecticut resident to claim a prize, but nonresident aliens with a prize of $599 or more must claim at Lottery Headquarters.
- Groups, minors and damaged tickets
- To split a prize with another person or a group, or give a winning ticket to a minor, call the Claims Department at 860-713-2680 first. Torn or damaged tickets, and ones a terminal can't scan, must be mailed or brought to Lottery Headquarters, and can take 4 to 6 weeks to process.
- Multi-state game tickets
- Powerball, Mega Millions, Millionaire for Life and Powerball Xs & Os tickets bought in Connecticut must be claimed in Connecticut, and tickets bought elsewhere can't be.
