What are the new Texas scratch-off tickets for 2026?
This page shows all newly released Texas scratch-off tickets launched in 2026. New games are the best time to play because all top prizes are still available—nobody has claimed the jackpots yet. The Texas Lottery typically releases 3-5 new scratch-off games each month across different price points ($1-$50 tickets). Every new game starts with 100% of prizes in circulation, giving you the maximum chance to win advertised jackpots. We track official launch dates and update this page within hours of new games hitting stores.
Are Texas Scratch Tickets the same as scratch-offs?
Yes — Texas scratch tickets and Texas scratch-offs are the same thing: a paper lottery ticket you scratch to reveal whether it wins. The Texas Lottery lists them under "Scratch Tickets" on its own site. "Scratch Tickets" is simply what most players in Texas call them, while "scratch-off" and "scratch ticket" are the terms used in other states. Every game ranked on this page is the same physical ticket, whichever name you use for it.
Why should I buy new Texas scratch-offs instead of older games?
New scratch-offs have a critical advantage: all top prizes are still unclaimed. When you buy a ticket from a newly released game, you're competing in a fresh prize pool where the jackpot is guaranteed to still exist. With older games, major prizes get claimed over time—Texas currently has 76 active games, and many have already lost 50-90% of their top prizes. New games also tend to have better overall odds since the Texas Lottery designs each game to attract players at launch. The first few weeks after release offer the absolute best chance to win big prizes before they're claimed.
How often does Texas Lottery release new scratch-off tickets?
The Texas Lottery typically releases new scratch-offs every 2-4 weeks, with most launches happening at the beginning of the month. Major releases often coincide with seasonal events (holidays, summer, back-to-school) and tend to introduce 3-5 new games at once across different price points. Some months may see 8-10 new games, while slower periods might only have 1-2 releases. ScratchOdds tracks the official Texas Lottery release calendar and updates this page immediately when new games are announced or hit stores, so you never miss a launch.
How do you know which Texas scratch-offs are new?
We track official launch dates from the Texas Lottery's game database and website. Each scratch-off game has an official "start date" when it first becomes available for sale. We consider a game "new" if it was released within the last 60-90 days, as this is the prime window when most top prizes are still available and ticket inventory is freshest. The page shows exactly when each game was launched (see "Released X days ago") so you can see how new it actually is. Games are sorted by release date by default, with the absolute newest games at the top.
What's the difference between new Texas scratch-offs and best Texas scratch-offs?
This page focuses exclusively on newly released games (last 60-90 days) where all prizes are still up for grabs. The "Best Texas Scratch-Offs" page ranks ALL 76 active games by value and odds—including older games that might have better odds despite having some prizes claimed. New doesn't always mean "best odds," but it does guarantee maximum prize availability. Use this page if you want to play fresh games with full jackpots. Use the main page if you want mathematically optimal odds regardless of release date. For the absolute best strategy, combine both: check new games here, then verify odds on the main page using ScratchOdds app's calculator.
How do I pick the best new Texas scratch-off to buy?
Start by sorting the new games by "Biggest Prizes Available" to see which newly released tickets have the largest jackpots still unclaimed. Look for games that launched recently (within the last 30 days) for the freshest prize pools. Compare games at your preferred price point—new $20 and $30 tickets often have jackpots of $1M-$5M with better odds than older high-dollar games. However, "newest" doesn't automatically mean "best value." For the most accurate recommendation, use the ScratchOdds app's calculator (available on the main Texas page), which factors in your specific budget and shows your actual probability of winning. The app's "Biggest Remaining Prizes" goal is perfect for new games since it highlights fresh jackpots. Download the app to get notified immediately when the Texas Lottery launches new games, so you can buy tickets while all prizes are still available.
How do I judge a newly released Texas scratch-off?
1. Decide what winning means to you before you compare anything. No scratch-off is good or bad on its own — it is good for one outcome and usually poor for another. The same Texas game can sit near the top of the state for winning back your money and near the bottom for winning $100,000. This page shows the games released most recently, where the full prize pool is usually still intact but no claim history exists yet. 2. Use odds from prizes and tickets left, not the odds printed on the ticket. Printed odds are fixed the day a game launches and never change. Real odds are the prizes still unclaimed divided by the tickets still out there, and both move daily as the game sells — which is why a Texas scratch-off can be worth buying one week and not the next with nothing on the ticket changing. Doing this by hand means recalculating it for all 76 active Texas games every day. 3. Check the odds for the prize amount you are actually after. Odds to win any prize and odds to win $1,000 are different numbers on the same scratch-off, and a game can be strong at one and weak at the other. Look up the odds for your target specifically — $50, $100, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and up — rather than assuming good overall odds carry over to the prize you care about. 4. Do not read "new" as "good". A game that just launched is the one moment its real odds and its printed odds roughly agree, because almost nothing has been claimed yet. That cuts both ways: it means the prize pool is intact, and it also means a game designed with a weak payout starts weak and only gets worse. Compare a new Texas scratch-off against the older games on its payout per dollar, not on its release date. 5. Or read it off a ranking that already did the maths. ScratchOdds recomputes all of the above for every one of the 76 active Texas games each day from official Texas Lottery data — odds per prize tier, odds to break even, odds to win $50 through $5M, current payout and grand prizes left — then ranks the games by whichever outcome you picked in step one. The ranking on this page is that answer for the newest releases. The app adds your budget, working out how many of which ticket to buy.
